Sourcing Knowledge Center / Industry Trends / Gallery View: Quality-of-life benefits in clean water via filters
Health risks posed by water contamination from unchecked waste disposal have led to the growth of the water filter market over the past years, a trend likely to continue. By 2026, this sector will reach $64.78 billion from $41.28 billion in 2020 for a 7.8 percent CAGR, according to 360 Research Reports.
Suppliers interviewed by Global Sources Korea Products say the pandemic has raised market interest in water filters, not only for under-the-sink or countertop variants but also for portable types. Such products have retrofit designs and can be attached to existing taps in bathrooms and kitchens, often without need for tools.
Whether conventional or attachable designs, there is an evolving trend from straightforward filtration, varying in the number of stages, to treatment and other value-added enhancements. For example, there are shower head kits with ultrafine holes designed to increase water pressure or provide massaging action, and with vitamin blocks for skin moisturizing, aromatherapy and odor removal. A few have added natural substances such as propolis and honey.
Various filtering materials are used, including ceramic, PP, carbon and polysulfone, to remove particles, heavy metals, harmful bacteria, gas and odors.
